Swine Oh Nine

My suitemate Alexis was sent home on Tuesday because the Quinnipiac Health Center thought she had swine flu.

A few of us were hanging out in the common room in our suite and she walked in with a ridiculous face mask, which somewhat resembled a duck beak. She stated that the nurses at health services told her that she had swine flu-llike symptoms and that because she lived within 200 miles of the school, she would have to be sent home to rest and see a doctor. Her direct roommate, Nicolina, and I proceeded to Lysol the shit out her room and the entire suite in an attempt to disinfect the air and surfaces around us.

So...less than 24 hours later, she texted us to let us know, that she, in fact, did NOT have swine flu, but that she had bronchitis, was dehydrated, and that she was anemic.

Later, that same day that Alexis went home, my best friend Max informed me that he too, was feeling ill. He went to the Health Center yesterday and came back unscathed and they informed him that he was just dehydrated. So, I bought him some gatorade and he went on living his life.

My suitemate, however, will not be returning to Connecticut until Sunday. Right now, I'm pretty sure she is high on cough syrup, which she told me has codine in it. Lovely.

The Perfect Bowl of Oatmeal

Today around noon my suitemate Nicolina skipped merrily into my dorm room holding her aqua blue stoneware bowl. It was filled with the most delicisous substance known to dorm inhabitors: Quakers Oats Maple and Brown Sugar instant oatmeal.

It was the most perfect bowl of oatmeal I had ever encountered. It was a sugary masterpiece with the consistency of nimbus clouds floating in a spring breeze.

She savored each bite of her scrumptous breakfast, but she has stated that it was "much too fleeting" and went on to covet some crumbly coffeecake.

Also today I found out that my article in Quinnipiac University's independent paper, Quad News, was quoted in the New York Times. My original article can be found here: http://www.quadnews.net/features/farmville-a-growing-obsession-1.2026801

And here's the link to where they quoted me in the NY Times: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/29/fashion/29farmville.html.

It was a pretty epic day, my editor texted me very excitedly early this morning with the brilliant news.

Upon ending this post, I would like to share that soon I will own my very own passport, as I plan on traveling to Central America later this year!
